The entire healing mechanic in this game seems very weak, since it only heals the one unit. Other than against Undead, I'm not too keen on Priests. (These are in my reserve slots)Īs noted before, I'd love to have some Inquisitors, but there are no more available on my map. I also have a stack of Priests I swap in for when I'm fighting Undead. I have a small stack of Beholders I swap out with the Archmages for whenever I'm fighting underground. My basic setup is Guardsmen/Swordsmen/Bowmen/Griffons/Archmages - mainly for the Guardsmen morale bonus. I try to pick the highest level units I can - but I also like the human units as well. When it comes time to get the dwarve's king to sign a treaty make sure you do that first because it will save you a lot of fights with unfriendly dwarves. Try to do them first or get as far as you can with them. I can't count how many areas I managed to get into simply by running through and avoiding the fight.ĭoing the King's quests will also get you more troops from the castle and knight's temple. Then you can run away out of their site or do a circle. You may need to entice some mobs to chase you to open the hall. You need to wait for mobs to go down certain halls before you can pass. The quest to grab the painting in the castle requires patience. I cleaned out the first floor, then went back later to finish the second floor then finally took on the staff. Two of which were the rescuing the mage and killing Eminem. There were probably 4 quests (not including the king's quest) remaining before I left the mainland. Sleem has Evil Shoal and Cloud of Poison which rock the boots off any knight. Having the phantoms strike first will use up the opponent's counter strike so the next army to attack can cause damage without receiving a counter attack. I have them attack first then I strike with the original army. When I'm ready for melee combat I use the phantom spell to clone my strongest group of men. I try to take out their archers first, then soldiers who can get to me quickly. I carry 2-3 armies who can strike across the board. How's your battle strategy? Do you charge with your troops? Do you use any magic or the chest of rage? You should be able to take down armies without losing any men. I think I had an item and/or tree skill help me on this. I was able to use Werewolves with Alchemists and not have any morale loss. You shouldn't have problems using these troops with humans. I was able to get Alchemists from the lab and Werewolves, Evil Beholders and a lot of snakes.
